Alex's Red Barn Wines and Brandies

Alex's Red Barn Winery features three classes of wine: the "Old-vine", the mediterranean and the Solera style Sherry.
The Stingaree Pastis is the only brandy available for sale now. The Moscato Grappa and the Red Barn Brandy have
not been released yet.
Old-vine Sauvignon Blanc
This treasured wine, interchangeably called Sauvignon Blanc or Fume Blanc, is made from Yakut Vineyards' forty year
old vines.
Sauvignon Blanc is one of the noblest of the "noble" wines; it is a winemaker's wine. DNA studies found that along
with Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc was a parent of Cabernet Sauvignon. That hybridization was apparently the
result of a spontaneous field crossing. Sauvingon Blanc is also one of only two wines, the other is Muscat, in which one
can readily recoize the taste of the grapes in the wine itself. It is characterized by a very distinctive aroma. It is grassy,
musky and has the zesty refreshing taste of gooseberries and nettles. It shares a certain herbaceous similarity with its
noble offspring, Cabernet Sauvingnon.
So, order a bottle or a case of this perfect wine and savor its distinctive flavors.

Old-vine Cabernet Sauvignon
Gold Medal Cabernet Sauvignons have been produced from old vine grapes grown on our Yakut Vineyards. This
Cabernet will thrill you with its intricacy and subtlety. It possesses the exact, and pronounced fruit flavor of black
currants and the aroma of green peppers. Drink a glass of this marvelous wine and it will convey to you the compelling
feeling you get when listening to Beethoven's Fifth Symphony. The Red Barn's old-vine Cabernet Sauvignon is hand
crafted from fully mature grapes that are not harvested till they reach the exact degree of ripeness of 24.5 Brix, so as to
get the full effect of Temecula's hot sun and cool nights. Reward yourself with a bottle of this majestically beautiful
wine.
Old-vine Johannisberg Riesling
Andre Tchelistcheff, the legendary dean of american winemakers, once wrote that he saw Temecula as the place to
produce one of the greatest Rieslings. He cited two reasons: Riesling matures there very late, as it matures in the upper
Rhine. And they are grown in gravelly, light, granitic soils which are only available there. Many of Temecula's best
winemakers consider Yakut Vineyards Rieslings as the premier Riesling grapes of Temecula. The Riesling grapes have
the advantage of retaining their acidity while achieving high levels of sugar. This fact leads to the production of wines
with long aging potential. Riesling has a sweet,spicy flavor, with a taste of peaches and apricot. Its crisp acidity results
in a well balanced wine, easy to drink as an aperitif or as a complement to fish or poultry. Treat yourself to a bottle of
this excellent wine.

Old-vine White Cabernet Sauvignon
We have just released our 2010 White Cabernet Sauvignon, an ideal rose-type summer wine made by leaving the
grapes’ dark skins to remain long enough in the fermenting vats to extract the proper color. Enjoy it as an aperitif or
paired with almost any summer meal. It is slightly sweet, as it has 1.5 % residual sugar. It has hints of strawberries and
water melon, but with the unmistakable finish of Cabernet Sauvignon. To enjoy it best, chill it slightly and savor its
unforgettable taste.

Grenache
Our newest wine, the 2008 Grenache , like all our other wines, is estate grown in our own vineyard. You will find this
Grenache to be a hearty, full-bodied ripe red wine. It is fruity and high in alcohol, but generally low in tannin. It should
be drunk young because of its short-term bottle aging. It possesses the pronounced flavors of black currants, black
cherries, blackberries and the aroma of green peppers. It is a truly seductive wine, you will greatly enjoy. Savor it with
hearty red meats, including grilled meats, roast leg of lamb and with roasted turkey, chicken, and stews.


Red Barn's Mediterranean Wines
Currently, we produce two mediterranean wines: Syrah, and Viognier. Both are from the upper Rhone region in
France, and they have adapted very well to our terroir.

Syrah
Our Syrah is deep-colored and tannic, with strong tar, spice and pepper qualities. It has the aroma of black currants and
plums, with a hint of smokiness. This high quality red wine gained it reputation in France's Rhone region. Our climate is
very similar to that area of Southern France, and we succeeded in duplicating the French grape, but with a Southern
Californian accent. We assure you that it will thrill you when you try this magnificent and bold wine.

Viognier
Released in May of 2011, it is the most fashionable white wine of the last twenty years, Viognier is a truly elegant
wine. It is high in alcohol, low in acidity and high in tannin. The wine has a very fragrant bouquet packed with
perfumed aromas of flowers and spices. It features notes of apricot, peach, mango, and types of citrus. Our Viognier,
with 13.3 % alcohol , has a viscous feel in the mouth and a warm pleasant finish. Enjoy it with poultry, pepper steak,
strong or salty cheeses, spicy Asian foods and Mediterranean cuisine.

Solera-Type Cream Sherry

Sherry is without a doubt one of the world’s great wines. Its origins date back to the Phoenician colonies in
the Iberian Peninsula, even before Roman times. Our Sherry is produced using the traditional “Solera”
method so as to maintain quality and style consistency. It is a full “oloroso” of fragrant aroma and is full
bodied and well balanced. Drink it as an aperitif or as an after-dinner drink. Enjoy it on ice any time of the
day. It is our desire to make your tasting of this magnificent wine a pleasant and memorable experience.

Stingaree Pastis

Stingaree Pastis is a 100 proof anise-flavored brandy. It is made in a copper alambic still, hand made by
Portuguese craftsmen in Europe. Pastis has had a sensational success in Farnce since it was introduced by
Paul Ricard in 1932 to replace the then-banned Absinthe. It is one of many anise flavor drinks found around
the Mediterranean. It is recommended to add water or some ice cubes to the 100 proof Pastis before serving
it.
